Can I use an 8YSZ test sample as a standard?

8YSZ test samples supplied with the ProboStat™ are intended for impedance spectroscopy and conductivity measurement training. In particular, they exhibit both bulk, grain boundary, and electrode impedances, visible in Nyquist plots as 3 semicircles in intermediate temperature ranges (400 - 600°C). They are not meant as fuel cells, but they can be sealed for testing open circuit voltage and transport number evaluations.

Typical data for electrochemical performance can be found in the literature. It is not common to provide standard data, as they will for ceramic materials always vary with thermal history and between samples.

The 8YSZ test samples are meant for user training only and they should not be considered as a standard.
